Who We Are

Rev. Margarette Ouji 



Pastor Margarette grew up in Southern California and went on to receive her Bachelor's in Social Work from Concordia College in Bronxville, NY. They hold a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of South Carolina. In 2017 Pastor began her seminary education at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, CA. 

They enjoy comedy shows, crocheting, and spending time with their family. Pr. Margarette was ordained in April of 2022, and this is her first call. She serves as the Chaplain to the Board of Directors for Reconciling Works. This organization advocates for the acceptance, full participation, and liberation of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions within the Lutheran Church.

Xiyu Deng


Pianist Xiyu Deng is pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree under Dr. Joanne Polk at the Manhattan School of Music. She is also a teaching assistant employed by the Manhattan School of Music since 2018; she teaches piano group classes and elective piano lessons for MSM graduate and undergraduate students. She began studying the piano at the age of five. She was awarded top prizes at the BNP Paribas ‘Rising Star' Piano Festival in 2013, New England Conservatory Honors Competition in 2016, and the second prize in Open Class at the 17th Hong Kong----Asia Piano Open Competition in 2012. As a solo pianist, she has performed extensively throughout Europe, Asia, Australia, and the United States at internationally notable concert halls, such as Carnegie Zankel Hall, Merkin Concert Hall at Kaufman Music Center in New York, New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall in Boston, and Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing. She pursued her Bachelor of Music degree at the Central Conservatory of Music as a student of Dr. Bo Tong and her Master of Music degree with Mr. Gabriel Chodos at the New England Conservatory.
