Dear beloved members of First Lutheran Church of Montclair,
As we embrace the Easter season, we are called to reflect on the message in John 20:1-18. This passage celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ and calls us to lean into our future with courage and imagination. Let us also take this time to engage closely with our new mission statement, inviting us to live out our values and aspirations deeply. In a world where the way forward might seem surrounded by a heavy fog, the spirit of Easter challenges us to envision anew the life of our congregation, echoing the resurrection's promise of renewal and infinite possibilities for all who believe.
Confronting an uncertain future can evoke a sense of doubt and fear, like Mary Magdalene’s initial despair upon discovering the empty tomb. Yet, in embracing these doubts, we find ourselves open to encountering Christ in profoundly unexpected and transformative ways. Let us remember, especially in moments of uncertainty, that the presence of God can light our path with unparalleled clarity and purpose. This season invites us to gather as a community fueled by the resurrection's joy and the steadfast promise that death has been defeated once and for all.
This Easter invites us to discover the many forms of joy from faithful stewardship. Whether through deepening personal relationships or extending a hand to those in need, every act of kindness mirrors the boundless love given freely to us through Christ’s ultimate sacrifice. May this season serve as a light of the strength and resilience of a community bonded by shared purpose and unwavering faith, equipped to navigate any challenge with hope and unyielding resolve.
As we journey forward, our trust in God remains our guiding star, affirming that we can weather any storm through faith.
